Prescribed Burns 2022

An extensive amount of land is due for burns in 2022.  One of the on-going complications is access to the upper prairie of roughly 110 acres.  A creek crossing has become too difficult for various vehicles to cross and needs to be rebuilt.
Picture
Fire lines and work path on two of the small plots burned based on GPS tracking.  The field to the right didn't test well due to its being newly seeded this year and inconsistent fuel so it was aborted for this year.  These fields are heavy with brome still and so additional seeding post burn and continued management for natives will be on-going.

These plots were narrow and quirky shapes and sloping to the NE with some quirks.  Fire breaks were mostly maintained throughout the year providing good containment.

Wind conditions were mostly favorable with shifting direction early in the day and then consistently from the SE and picking up.
