River Pyre - Haven Henningsen

The River Pyre, a project designed to encourage awareness of our experience within a place and its effects on the individual, was developed and constructed at W.A.S. by Adam Grimm in 2019. Through its documentation, we are able to understand the material and spatial relationship that is created by the form and its environment, suggesting a connection between architecture and those who find themselves within it. Rather than recreating the structure from scratch, this project aims to reuse its materials and others on-site through a design-build process. “Adaptation” is key in this course - reusing existing materials from site that will reshape the River Pyre in order to reactivate it in structure and spirit. This project and its construction should consider the current status of the site and its past, documenting the compelling link between the assemblage and its ever-changing environment. -  HH
