ARCH 301 ArchXLandscape 2018
09/14/18 - 90 students and 4 faculty on a 12 hour immersive study of LandscapeXArchitecture.
Consideration of landscape as a constructed, cultural artifact. Projects address the perceptual aspects and strategies of situation and location; examination of environmental phenomena and patterns of use and settlement as revealed and affected by the architectural artifact. Development of a critical design process is stressed.
The ARCH 301 studios focus on the intersection of architecture and landscape as constructed, cultural artifacts. Each studio faculty determines the location, parameters, and requirements of the various projects that he or she governs, communicated through studio-specific project briefs. Student work integrates all aspects of your education to date — design composition, siting, an understanding of materials and structure, energy-use awareness, technology, communication, and, of course, history and theory. Students develop and make manifest in your designs a philosophy of architecture that reflects your personal values and proclivities.
